What is Google Wave?

Keeping it simple, Google Wave is a tool for real-time communication and collaboration.

How does it look like?

List of potential uses for Google Wave

(Note that all of these are done in real-time. When I say real-time, I mean “real-time”.  You will be able to see people type, delete characters, insert videos, games, plugins, photos and more right before your eyes on your browser without reloading.)

Here are some ideas/potential uses for Google Wave. Some are already implemented, while some are just waiting for developers out there for them to be created.

  • Online Family Gatherings with live video streaming, multi-player games, photo slideshows

  • Sportscasting
  • White board collaboration with a doodle board
  • Events Planning
  • Interactive Map Discussions
  • Live Forums
  • Live Interview (Q&A)
  • Instant Messaging (IM) replacement
  • Did I already mention that it can eventually replace your boring, non-real-time email client?

Those are just a few ideas/potential uses of Google Wave. I’m sure there are even more.

OK! I’m sold. Where can I get Google Wave?

Google Wave is currently in a limited preview and the last 100,000 invites were already sent last Wednesday. But there are ways to request for an invite. Here’s a list:
