Using Vector Smart Objects in Photoshop can save a great deal of time. When a designer spends less time operating his technology, he has more time for his creative. Vector Smart Objects are embedded objects in a PhotoShop file that are edited elsewhere; they are representations of outside elements, used on your Photoshop canvas. Creative Suite has at once eliminated the lack of vector opportunities in previous PhotoShop versions, and integrated their powerhouse art applications.
You can work on your vectors in Illustrator, and just drag (perhaps a group of) objects over into your PhotoShop canvas. Then you can double click a Vector Smart Object at any time and it will load in Illustrator. Edit the object, click “save” and PhotoShop will reappear with the edited version in place.
Experienced PhotoShop users know there are several ways to accomplish most interactions with their works, several combinations of tools and actions to yield the same result. And we are often inclined to stick with what we are comfortable with. But if you have not changed your workflow to include Vector Smart Objects, you’ve a gift from Adobe waiting for you, begging to be enjoyed.
