If you are in sales these days you are familiar with the wall that stands between you and your prospect. The voice mail wall. At Canada’s Web Shop we do not use cold calling as a sales lead tactic. If you use cold calling the voice mail wall is even worse, good luck to getting through to the right people. We find that even once you get a prospect in the sales funnel it is difficult to get a hold of prospects.
One of the tactics that we use is creative emails that get prospects attention. Here are a few elements to these creative emails:
- Put the prospect’s name in the email subject, this tends to get the prospects attention
- Craft the email text to outline all the advantages of making a decision to go with your quotation. Refrain from mentioning anything about your company i.e. “This project is perfect for our company as we have so much experience in this area”. Concentrate on the advantages i.e. your company will receive a solution that will create efficiencies, improve your brand awareness and increase your leads and thus your year over year sales”.
- Include social media tags in the signature of your email, often times prospects will research you through your social media tags (LinkedIn, Facebook, Blog) and make contact with you possibly. If anything it shows that you are up on technology that may impress your prospect.
The last time I tried this tactic we landed a deal that had been stalled for about 6 months. The prospect showed up with a cheque and a signed contract. She was ready to do the project but needed the correct prompting to bring it to her attention.
